Lebanon’s Enchanting Summer Escapes

Lebanon is a beautiful country with diverse landscapes, historical sites, and a vibrant culture. Whether you’re interested in history, nature, or vibrant city life, Lebanon has something to offer every traveller.

Here are some places to visit in Lebanon:

Beirut:

The 6000-year-old city of Beirut is one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle Eastern world.

Take a trip to the spirited Beirut Souks for the exotic and unique items they sell. You should check out the Souk al Ahad if you are looking for souvenirs; you can find all kinds of clothing, jewellery, furniture, and lamps here for friendly prices. Visit the National Museum to see 100,000 ancient and medieval artefacts unearthed in and around Lebanon. If you are curious about Phoenician objects, this is your best bet.

Explore Corniche Avenue de Paris, which runs along the Mediterranean and houses clubs that are the hottest places to visit in the city at night. Don’t forget to take a picture on the cliff off the coast at Raouche, where Pigeon Rock, a series of weird rock formations jutting out of the water, lies.

Baalbek:

The town of Baalbek in the Beqaa Valley, some hours from Beirut, is home to some of the most impressive Roman ruins in the world. The town is best known for the temple of Bacchus, the Roman God of wine, which is one of the last standing Roman buildings in the world (over 1800 years old).

The courtyard in front of the temple now plays host to the Baalbeck International Festival, an annual celebration of history and architecture.

Jeita Grotto:

Take a boat ride through the lower grotto and a walking tour through the upper grotto to marvel at the stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Aside from being a Lebanese national symbol and a top tourist destination, the Jeita grotto was one of the top 14 finalists in the New 7 Wonders of Nature competition.

Kadisha Valley:

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Kadisha or the Qadisha Valley, is known for its breathtaking scenery, ancient monasteries and rugged landscapes. Kadisha means “Holy” in Aramaic, and the valley is sometimes called the Holy Valley. It has sheltered Christian monastic communities for many centuries. It is an excellent destination for hiking and exploring Lebanon’s religious heritage.
