Kim Kardashian is Balenciaga’s newest ambassador. The reality star-turned-megastar has been seen wearing Demna’s whimsical creations for quite some time. She has been in several of the House’s ads, walked in the brand’s 51st Couture show, attended the Met Gala with the designer in 2021, and more. However, she is officially declaring her relationship status now.
In a statement, Kardashian acknowledged that Balenciaga’s designs had been a staple of her wardrobe for a while now, alongside some of her most memorable moments in style. Under Demna’s leadership, this storied fashion brand has embraced innovation, craftsmanship, and modernism. In my view, the foundation of this enduring friendship is a shared dedication to doing the right thing. Being their ambassador is the next logical step for the company, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

The relationship between Kardashian and the House has been rocky at times. Two scandalous campaigns in November of last year brought shame to the Balenciaga name: one featured youngsters with teddy bear backpacks inspired by the BDSM and the other had SCOTUS documents pertaining to child pornography legislation. Kim was “reevaluating [her] relationship with the brand,” as she put it at the time.
“The disturbing images have shaken me as a mother of four,” she stated. “There is no place in our society for any attempt to normalize child abuse of any kind. The safety of children must be held in the highest regard – period.” But she did say that she was grateful for Balenciaga’s apology and removal of the ads as a way the company dealt with the problem. I got the impression from our conversation that they get how important this is and are committed to making sure it doesn’t happen again.
In spite of her disapproval of the defamatory 2022 campaign, Kardashian fearlessly exited her Escalade in December, accompanied by Kendall Jenner, to secure a seat for the Balenciaga Fall 2024 fashion show in Los Angeles. Her presence once again served as an endorsement of the contentious brand, and the news of her ambassadorship just serves to solidify the renewed intensity of their relationship, for better or worse.
