Lamar’s emergence at the event reflects a significant shift in the world of hip-hop.
On Monday, Drake came in with a multitude of nominations to the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards but left empty.
A sharp contrast, however, hits as Kendrick Lamar, who was wholly absent, at the event sustained the energy to body all the American rappers and clinched the BET Best Male Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. Since that time, this has been the talk of the town.
Lamar’s triumphs, the seventh time, are probably going to be a spark to the existing rap beef between the critically acclaimed “Big Three.”
The Vulture wrote in an article that everyone cannot just get Lamar and Drake out of their lips since the BET Awards. And that’s true. Lamar’s emergence at the event reflects a significant shift in the world of hip-hop.
Undoubtedly, it is a shift that questions what lies ahead for the “Big Three.” Even with Drake and J. Cole, demoted, rising to the occasion and regaining their prominence will require a lot of effort and probably, several diss tracks too.
Lamar may reign unchallenged as the duo are currently incapacitated to match Lamar’s impressive haul.
The rap rein has changed. Looking at the style of Lamar’s eccentric vibe, his unique blend of social commentary, storytelling, and exceptional lyricism has garnered him devoted followers and solidified his status as one of the most influential rappers of his generation.
Beyond awards, his critically acclaimed albums and singles consistently dominate charts, showcasing his undeniable impact on the genre.
