R&B star Mary J. Blige joins the list for the second time, and 10 of the fifteen performers are on the ballot for the first time.

To be recognized for this award, an artist or band must have made their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of nomination. The final list will be announced in late April.

“Continuing in the true spirit of rock ‘n’ roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others who have followed in their footsteps,” John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement.

The event in Cleveland, Ohio, will be livestreamed on Disney+, with a special broadcast on ABC that will be available on Hulu the next day.

Over 1,000 musicians, music industry people, and historians vote on the inductees. Fans can also vote for their preferred star. They can take part online or in person at the museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
