It has also been confirmed that Kylie will perform that evening, sharing the stage with Dua Lipa and Raye who have already been announced.
“I am beyond thrilled to be honored with the global icon award and to be joining a roll call of such incredible artists,” Kylie stated in response to the news.
“I have a really particular place in my heart for the Brits since the UK has always felt like home away from home. I am eager to return to the Brits stage since I have some incredible memories from the past few years.”
The highest honor bestowed by the event organizers, the Brits Icon event is “reserved for truly exceptional artists.”
Taylor Swift won the coveted prize in 2021, making history as the first female winner. Robbie Williams, David Bowie, and Sir Elton John are among the previous winners.
Kylie has now sold over 80 million records globally and won three Brit awards. In addition, she has seven UK number one singles and nine UK number one albums.
The Australian singer-songwriter’s smash song Padam Padam, which went viral last summer, earned her the first-ever best pop dance recording Grammy earlier in February.
This year’s nominees for the Brit Awards also include Little Simz, Arlo Parks, and The Rolling Stones.
With seven nominations, Raye holds the record for most nominations received by an artist in a single year for 2024. Best album, best new artist, best pop act, and artist of the year are among her nominees.
Additionally, she is nominated for best song on two tracks.
Following backlash to the 2023 lineup of all-male finest artists, Brit organizers decided to increase the number of slots available for the artist of the year category from five to ten this year.
The event will take place at London’s O2 Arena, and Clara Amfo, Maya Jama, and Roman Kemp will serve as hosts.
